Is there a long-term commitment?

Answer: 

No. Sunnington Assisted Living and Senior Care operate on a month-to-month basis.

Are meals provided?

Answer: 

Yes! Three nutritious meals are provided each day. Residents are encouraged to eat each meal in the dining room for social interaction. In most cases, special dietary requirements can be managed.

Does Sunnington Provide Transportation to Medical Appointments?

Answer: 

Transportation to medical appointments for residents in our assisted living community is provided within Murfreesboro on Tuesday and Thursday; 48 hour notice is requested for these appointments in order to arrange the schedule.

For our residents in Senior Care, transportation to medical appointments is provided by family members.

What is the difference in Sunnington Assisted Living and Sunnington Senior Care?

Answer: 

Sunnington Assisted Living is for those who may have reached the point of needing some assistance in order to maintain a relatively independent lifestyle. This assistance may include medication management, or assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, grooming, or toileting.

Sunnington Senior Care is designed exclusively for those with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory impairments who may require a smaller, secure environment. Medication management and assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, grooming, and toileting, is included for every resident.

Is there a nurse on duty?

Answer: 

A nurse is onsite from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. After 11:00 the Director of Nursing, in each building, is on call if needed.

Is there a house physician?

Answer: 

Residents may continue their relationship with their primary care physician or switch to the Physician’s practice that visits each building weekly.

Am I allowed to bring my own furniture to Sunnington?

Answer: 

Absolutely! This is your home and we want you to have your furnishings and the creature comforts of home.

Can I bring my pet with me to Sunnington?

Answer: 

Yes. Dogs and cats, under 20 lbs are welcome in our community provided current shot records are on file. Any pet, with the exception of reptiles, are always welcome to visit provided shot records are on file.

Is smoking allowed?

Answer: 

Smoking is allowed on the front porch of the assisted living building. Smoking is not, however, allowed in Senior Care.

Is assisted living tax-deductible?

Answer: 

You may be eligible for certain deductions on your federal tax return depending on the types of service and the level of care you require. Speak with your financial advisor for additional information.

Does Medicare or Private Insurance pay for assisted living?

Answer: 

Medicare and private insurance will continue paying what is currently covered, e.g. Doctor visits, medications, hospitalizations, rehabilitation stays, home health.

What Financial Options are there?

Answer: 

Private Pay – Assisted living is primarily a private pay industry; you will be invoiced monthly. These funds normally come from sources such as retirement benefits, social security, investments, savings, and the sale of a home or other assets.

CHOICES – Sunnington is not currently set up to receive funds through the Tennessee Medicaid program known as CHOICES. If you or your loved one are Medicaid eligible, you will want to contact your Social Worker to find out what assisted living communities in the area do accept this method of payment.
